Massachusetts Bill Allows Abortion Up to Birth

Earlier this week, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healy signed a bill removing the 24-week limit on abortions. Scheduled to take effect in 90 days, under the Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act, abortions could be permitted at any point in the pregnancy for any reason.

Surrounded by smiling, cheering women, Governor Healy commented, “Abortion will remain safe. It will remain legal, and it will remain accessible here in Massachusetts. That’s my commitment to you.”

Abortion is not healthcare. Abortion kills. Doctors who fight tirelessly to help vulnerable patients live – that is healthcare.

Healy called this legislation a “shield” against national efforts under President Donald Trump and Republicans to roll back abortion protections following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade. And further stated that those who oppose the legislation do not support women’s health.

Massachusetts Citizens for Life countered with a statement from their president, Myrna Maloney Flynn, “Legalizing elective abortion up to birth on healthy moms and healthy, pain-capable infants is not about a doctor-patient relationship but rather abortionists normalizing infant death and pressuring vulnerable women to permit their unborn children to die in heinous acts of violence, which are among the most severe human rights assaults allowed in only a few places, among them China and North Korea.”

Lila Rose, president and founder of Live Action, commented on X that late-term abortion is when “a fully developed child is stabbed in the heart and poisoned to death. It’s not ‘healthcare.’ It’s not ‘empowering.’ It’s murder.”

The American College of Pediatricians condemns this law. Dr. Robin Pierucci, Board-Certified Pediatrician, Neonatologist, and ACPeds Board Member said, “As pediatricians, we care for children at every stage of development, including babies born prematurely at the same gestational ages at which babies in Massachusetts may now be aborted.”

Massachusetts joins Alaska, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont and the District of Columbia in removing gestational age limits, therefore permitting abortion at any point in pregnancy, even after the point they can survive outside of the womb.

Biblical Connection: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;” (Isiah 5:20). Those who are applauding this bill to kill babies will one day stand in judgment before Almighty God and give account.

PRAY: Pray for these precious babies. As Christians, it is our duty is to protect innocent life and elect leaders who are committed to doing so as well. We must pray for those who make these evil decisions, for a change of heart and conscience.
